Skinny Eating : Chilli Chicken

Cooking and eating is so much fun, especially when I know what I am making I can enjoy and know it is good for me.

so here's my  'Skinny' take on an Indian Classic: Chilli Chicken

ingredients: ( serves 2) Lunch or dinner

cooking time- roughly 20-25 minutes- ( to allow the ingredient to infuse the chicken/quorn)

320g of Quorn pieces ( replacement for chicken) or 320g of lean chicken breast cubed
Half large green onion- thinly sliced
2 tbs of Flora cuisine for frying

step 1: in a saucepan, allow the flora to turn clear and then add the onions. cover and allow to cook until translucent, then add the quorn pieces/chicken cubed,  cover and cook until brown ( roughly 10 minutes on medium heat)
if using chicken- do your best to drain all the water before adding to the onions.

step 2- in  a small bowl- mix 2 tsp of mango powder, 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, season with black pepper and sea salt ( I keep the salt to a minimum).

step 3 quorn/chicken have browned and cooked, add the powder mix and turn it in slowly to coat the meat. allow to cook for 2-3 mins,

step 4: then finally add 2 tsp of green chilli sauce and the juice of half lemon. turn the mix, reduce the heat to low heating and allow the ingredients to cook for 10mins. Cover the sauce pan to seal in the flavour and moisture.

The whole thing should look semi dry and smell deliciously fragrant.

if you want to prettify the dish- you can add in red colorant to make it look like red hot :) I don't as I like the way it looks as is...

serve with wholemeal pitta bread/chappati and minty yoghurt.

thermogenic factor - has chillies, black pepper and turmeric ( aids lipolysis naturally)
good for skin, hair and nails- turmeric- antiseptic and antioxidant ( radiant glow from within)
tastes good.

 avoid Fatty points:- 


I serve with Natural Onken yoghurt or Fages 0% Greek yoghurt, if you choose fat free yoghurt make sure that it is not with added sugar.
choose wholemeal instead of white flour pitta.
