I love a good film, and always had a knack for discovering some hidden work among the archives. I'll update this list as I go along for my own memory of films I have watched and enjoyed.
There some fantastic works out there, art house Cineworks and filmatography personal to the makers in some of these films.
These are in no particular order:
Brighton Rock (1947)- with Richard Attenborough playing Pinkie Brown
Fantastic mob thriller set in Brighton. Watch the scene of Brighton evolve, the beautiful pier, seafront, the characters in black and white.
Gertrude (1964)-directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer
My kind of film, slow black and white set among artists, writers, love affairs and high expectations.
